Standard Pavement & Concrete – Signs Your Pavement Needs Attention

Standard Paving Worker with Safety Gear
When it comes to pavement, it’s important to take the proper precautions to maintain it. What starts as a small crack or a pothole in the road, can turn into widespread long-term damage.

Signs you need asphalt repairs:

Raveling and potholes

There are obvious signs that the surface is deteriorating, such as loose gravel, crumbling edges, or newly formed potholes. When water penetrates the base layer and breaks down the pavement, several problems typically arise.

Uneven surfaces

Rutting, dips, and depressions typically point to drainage issues or underlying structural issues. Water can accumulate on uneven pavement, leading to damage.

Pavement marks that have faded

ADA compliance, flow of traffic, and safety are all impacted when striping becomes difficult to see. Faded markings usually suggest that the pavement’s surface is deteriorating and may require maintenance.

Surface cracks

Water can enter the pavement through tiny cracks or alligator cracking, weakening the base. One of the first and most important signs that maintenance is required is cracking.

Problems with drainage

Asphalt can be quickly damaged by standing water or slow-draining areas. Lack of proper drainage speeds up wear, fades striping, and results in early surface failure.
If you are noticing any of these signs on your property, Standard Pavement & Concrete can assess your pavement and recommend the right course of action to take.
